OpenAI's Codex Can Now Use Your Mac Even When It's Locked

OpenAI added Computer Use to the Codex macOS app, expanding desktop automation on Macs.

The agent can click, type, navigate menus, and use the clipboard in permitted apps even when the Mac is locked or the screen is off.

Setup requires a plugin plus Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions, and launch availability excludes some regions.

Codex cannot control Terminal, Codex itself, or system admin prompts, highlighting both productivity gains and permission concerns.
