NASA has redesigned Artemis III as a low-Earth-orbit test flight instead of a direct lunar landing mission.

The cryogenic upper stage was removed from SLS and replaced with a structural spacer.

The mission will focus on docking and crew-transfer checks between Orion and the HLS landers.
