Sega’s Stranger Than Heaven cast includes a yakuza icon who died 12 years ago

Sega and RGG Studio confirmed that Stranger Than Heaven will feature Bunta Sugawara, the late yakuza-film icon, recreated digitally from archival materials.

The recreation was approved by Sugawara’s family and Toei Company, and Takashi Ukaji will provide the character’s voice.

The game is set to launch this winter on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The move highlights how legacy performers can be brought into new games with permission and careful digital recreation.
