Amazon to shake up the networking landscape with RNG? "69% less equipment, yet increased throughput"

Amazon unveiled its new Resilient Network Graphs (RNG) data center design to replace the traditional fat-tree architecture.

The company says RNG can cut networking hardware by 69%, boost throughput by 33%, reduce power use by 40%, and lower infrastructure costs by up to 45%.

Built on random-graph-based distributed connectivity, RNG uses Spraypoint and ShuffleBox to solve large-scale deployment challenges.

First deployed in Dublin and later expanded to Germany and Spain, the design is now the default for most new AWS data centers.
