Apple’s new Upgrade plan won’t punish missed payments with restrictions, but three strikes could end your lease

Apple clarified that missed payments on its new Upgrade lease will not trigger a device Restricted Mode.

The Upgrade plan, offered with Klarna, covers iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.

An iOS 27 beta had hinted at a default-handling system, but Apple says it will not use that for Upgrade accounts.

Klarna says three consecutive missed payments can end the lease and make the remaining balance due immediately.
