I’m not convinced Googlebook will be Google’s next big thing, or if it even deserves it

Google unveiled Googlebook at the Android Show as a Gemini-powered AI laptop platform with deep Android phone integration.

The pitch is an AI-first laptop experience with suggestions, cross-device features, and tighter ties to Google's ecosystem.

But unlike Apple's vertically controlled hardware, Googlebook must run across Intel, Qualcomm, and MediaTek chips.

That multi-architecture approach could create uneven performance and inconsistent AI features, echoing old ChromeOS and Chromebook fragmentation issues.
