Testing GPU Safeguard+ on the MSI MPG Ai1600TS PSU – a solution aimed at taming melting 16-pin connectors

MSI unveiled GPU Safeguard+ for its 2026 MPG and MAG power supplies, including the 1600W MPG Ai1600TS.

The feature monitors 12V-2x6 and 12VHPWR power delivery, warning users when a bad connection or uneven current is detected.

In MSI’s demo, the PSU logged the fault and could cut power to help prevent connector overheating or melting.

The move targets a recurring safety issue for high-power GPUs such as the RTX 40-series and RTX 5090.
