Ancient Egyptian Mummy Found Wrapped In Something Never Seen Before

Archaeologists in Oxyrhynchus, Egypt, found a 1,600-year-old mummy wrapped with a papyrus fragment from Book 2 of Homer’s Iliad.

The text was attached to the mummy’s abdomen during embalming, making it an unprecedented literary find in a mummification context.

Experts say it is the first known literary papyrus discovered in a funerary setting on a mummy.
