Robot Trucks Can Help Cut Fuel Consumption

Aurora says its self-driving trucks use about 14% to 15% less fuel than human-driven rigs.

The company says smoother acceleration, braking, and steadier highway speeds around 65 mph improve fuel economy.

Autonomous trucks can also operate more hours per day because they are not limited by human driving and rest rules.

Aurora plans to expand commercial autonomous freight runs in Texas and other southern states as operators look to cut costs.
