DeepSeek-V4 arrives with near state-of-the-art intelligence at a fraction of the cost of Opus 4.7, GPT-5.5

DeepSeek launched V4, a 1.6-trillion-parameter open-source Mixture-of-Experts model on Hugging Face and via API.

The company says V4 matches or beats leading closed models on some benchmarks while costing far less to run.

DeepSeek claims API usage is about one-sixth the price of Claude Opus 4.7 and well below GPT-5.5.

The release could intensify pricing pressure across the AI market by making frontier capabilities cheaper for developers and enterprises.
