JFTC warns of smartphone OS providers excluding rival AI, releases survey report, expresses concern to major U.S. firms

Japan’s Fair Trade Commission released a report on the generative AI market and highlighted key competition concerns.

It warned that access restrictions by smartphone OS providers and service bundling could violate antitrust law.

The report also flagged the dominance of overseas giants such as NVIDIA and Tesla in autonomous driving and semiconductors.

The FTC said platform lock-in by large tech firms could hinder new entrants and weaken fair competition.
