Instagram ‘Instants’ app launches on Android, and it’s basically Snapchat

Instagram launched Instants, a standalone Android and iOS app for sending disappearing photos.

The app opens directly to the camera and lets users share photos with friends that vanish after 24 hours.

Instants was previously a feature called Shots inside Instagram messages, and some regions can already access it.

The move highlights Instagram’s continued push to repackage Snapchat-like features as separate, faster-sharing apps.
