Instants, an app for casually sharing photos of “right now,” launches independently from Instagram

Instagram has launched Instants, a new way to share unedited, real-time photos inside Instagram and, in some countries, as a separate app.

Users can send photos to close friends or mutual followers, with images disappearing after one view or within 24 hours.

Instants is designed to make sharing feel more casual and low-pressure, without filters or editing.

The feature also blocks screenshots and screen recording to protect the ephemeral nature of the posts.
