Codex can now control other desktop devices via Computer Use

OpenAI is developing a Codex feature that could use Computer Use to control macOS apps from remote devices.

The workflow may extend the ChatGPT mobile app’s remote-control setup to work even when a Mac is locked or asleep.

If launched, Codex would move beyond coding into broader desktop device control, reducing friction for mobile-to-desktop tasks.

The update could also raise security concerns for Apple as remote access expands across Macs and other desktops.
