Claude can now open apps, click buttons, and complete tasks on your Mac — but Anthropic says risks remain

Anthropic added macOS computer-use features to Claude Code and Claude Cowork that let Claude operate desktop apps and peripherals.

Claude prefers using service connectors like Slack or Gmail but will control the browser, mouse, keyboard, and screen when needed.

The feature captures screenshots and excludes sensitive data from memory, and Anthropic requires permission before Claude opens new apps.

The capability is in research preview for Claude Pro and Claude Max on macOS, and Anthropic urges users to close confidential files and deny sensitive app permissions.
