China’s hybrid engine promises stealth, endurance boost for battlefield drones

A Chinese hybrid propulsion system tested in December combines a fuel-driven generator with an electric drive for small drones.

The design decouples power generation from thrust using a gas turbine to charge batteries and an electric ducted fan for propulsion.
