The war against China has just claimed another victim: the United States bans robot vacuum cleaners

The FCC expanded its restricted equipment list to include advanced robots, including robot vacuums, and solar inverters.

The move will block future U.S. imports of new models, but devices already on sale are unaffected.

Although framed as a cybersecurity step, the policy mainly hits Chinese brands such as Roborock and Dreame, as well as iRobot’s Chinese owner.

The change could limit U.S. consumers’ access to most new robot vacuums while shielding domestic competitors.
