Russia’s new two-seat Su-57D: A game-changer in networked air combat

Russia unveiled the Su-57D, a two-seat stealth fighter variant built to command drones and support networked air combat.

The aircraft adds a second crew member plus advanced communications, AI-assisted systems, and data links for UAV coordination.

It is designed to act as an airborne command node, including control of drones such as the S-70 Okhotnik.

If fielded, the Su-57D could strengthen Russia’s manned-unmanned teaming and reshape air combat tactics.
