A Tiny Bright-Blue Octopus Found in the Galápagos Is Completely New to Science

Scientists identified a tiny bright-blue octopus from the Galápagos as a new species.

The animal was collected during a 2015 deep-sea expedition near Darwin Island.

Researchers used micro-CT scans on the only specimen instead of dissecting it.

The discovery, published in Zootaxa, adds to knowledge of Galápagos deep-sea biodiversity.
