ChartAct: A Benchmark for Dynamic Chart Understanding

Researchers introduced ChartAct, a new benchmark for dynamic chart understanding in interactive, real-world settings.

Built from 673 charts across 8 websites, it includes 1,440 QA samples covering 7 chart types and two environments.

The study evaluated 11 advanced models, including multimodal models and GUI agents, and found most still struggle with dynamic chart reasoning.

ChartAct highlights a key gap in current chart QA research: important information often appears only after actions like hover, click, zoom, or drag.
