Moonshot develops 'Kimi K3' with 20,000 Nvidia GPUs supplied by Alibaba

According to Bloomberg, Moonshot AI struck a compute supply deal with Alibaba and used a cluster of 20,000 Nvidia GPUs to develop “Kimi K3.”

The infrastructure reportedly handled a significant share of the Kimi series’ training compute, and Alibaba did not deny the arrangement.

The report suggests Chinese AI firms are continuing to build on Nvidia GPUs despite U.S. export controls.

It highlights how access to high-end AI chips remains a flashpoint in the U.S.-China AI rivalry and chip-export debate.
