Google launches open-source runtime for AI agents

Google has open-sourced AX, an early-stage runtime for managing distributed AI agents.

AX is designed for long-running workflows, with recovery after interruptions, centralized state control, and workflow logging.

It also supports sandboxing, trajectory branching, mixed deployment models, and Agent2Agent coordination.

The project aims to give developers more reliable infrastructure for agents that can resume work and operate across environments.
