AI agent designs a complete RISC-V CPU from a 219-word spec sheet in just 12 hours — comparably simple design required 'many tens of billions of tokens'

Verkor says its autonomous AI Design Conductor turned a 219-word spec into a complete five-stage RISC-V CPU core in 12 hours.

The design was verified in simulation and the company plans to release the RTL, but the chip has not been fabricated.

The result highlights how agentic AI could compress chip-design workflows, while real-world manufacturing and oversight remain major hurdles.
