Piracy site Anna’s Archive loses completely in copyright infringement lawsuit brought by publishers, ordered to pay about 3 billion yen and face permanent injunctions against hosting and domains

A coalition of 13 publishers won a copyright lawsuit against Anna’s Archive after the site failed to appear in court.

A U.S. judge awarded the full $19.5 million requested in damages.

The ruling also imposes permanent domain and hosting restrictions on Anna’s Archive and related providers.

The case raises pressure on a major shadow library, even if collecting the damages may be difficult.
