A New Implant Aims to Rewire the Brain to Help Stroke Patients

San Francisco startup Epia Neuro has launched a stroke rehab system that pairs a skull implant with a grip-assist glove.

The implant reads brain signals for movement intent, and AI translates them to help patients open and close their hands.

The device is designed for rehabilitation sessions or at-home use, aiming to help stroke survivors relearn hand function.

The effort comes amid a wider surge of brain-computer interface investment, including work from Neuralink, Merge Labs, and Synchron.
