YouTube is giving creators a new weapon against AI deepfakes

YouTube is expanding its AI likeness detection tools beyond a small pilot to eligible creators over 18.

Creators can verify their identity in YouTube Studio, spot altered or synthetic videos using their face, and request removal when rules are violated.

The move aims to help creators fight impersonation and reduce harm from increasingly convincing AI deepfakes.

It also reflects growing pressure on platforms to better police synthetic media and identity misuse.
