iPhone 18 Pro expected to adopt variable aperture lens…component cost to rise 50%

Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple is likely to bring a variable-aperture main camera to the iPhone 18 Pro.

The new lens component could cost about 50% more than Apple’s current premium 7P lens system.

Sunny Optical is expected to supply 40% to 50% of the part, while Largan remains the main supplier.

Kuo also says Apple is facing profitability pressure from rising memory costs.

Separately, he expects Apple to change the ultra-wide camera module structure in 2028 iPhones.
