China’s 2026 summer movie season has topped 7.5 billion yuan in total box office as of 6 p.m. on Aug. 3.

Nearly 120 Chinese and international films have been released, keeping the market highly active.

Top earners include “Kung Fu Women’s Football,” “Eight Immortals!,” and “Spider-Man: A Brand New Day.”

“Spider-Man: A Brand New Day” opened with 824 million yuan in mainland China in its first week, a recent record for imported live-action films.
