China has just launched an “ID card” for humanoid robots: the ambition goes far beyond registration

China has launched a permanent 29-character ID code for each humanoid robot.

The code is structured into country, manufacturer, model, and serial-number segments.

The system is part of a broader lifecycle management platform led by HEIS and standards bodies.

It already covers more than 100 companies, 200 models, and 28,000 robots.

Officials say the goal is stronger traceability, safety oversight, and accountability as the sector grows.
