XPENG launches China’s first mass-produced robotaxi to challenge Tesla’s FSD

XPENG unveiled a production-ready robotaxi built entirely in-house, calling it China’s first mass-produced autonomous taxi.

The vehicle runs on XPENG’s GX platform with L4 autonomy, Turing AI chips, and a vision-only, LiDAR-free system.

Pilot robotaxi services are set to begin later this year, with driverless commercialization targeted for early 2027.

The launch boosts XPENG’s challenge to Tesla and underscores China’s push from test fleets to scalable autonomous production.
