Windows Insiders can now pause updates indefinitely, in 35-day increments

Microsoft is testing a new Windows Update experience for Insiders with more flexible control over installs and restarts.

Users can now keep pausing updates in 35-day blocks with no hard limit, and updates can be skipped during initial device setup.

Microsoft is also separating ordinary reboots from update installs, reducing surprise patching during restart flow.

Some component updates will be bundled with monthly quality patches, while major upgrades like Windows 11 25H2 will still be pushed.
