RCS between iPhone and Android now supports end-to-end encryption, starting with iOS 26.5

Apple will beta-enable end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging between iPhone running iOS 26.5 and Android phones using the latest Google Messages.

The feature requires carrier support, is on by default, and encrypted RCS chats will show a lock icon.

This strengthens the security of standard messaging between iPhone and Android, improving cross-platform privacy.
