To achieve major goals, NASA seeks to streamline its organization

NASA is overhauling its organization, merging six mission directorates into four to cut bureaucracy and streamline operations.

Administrator Jared Isaacman says more authority will shift to program leaders and field centers, with no layoffs or field-center closures planned.

The agency will also create a Space Reactor Office as it sharpens its focus on priority goals like Artemis, a future Moon base, and broader space operations.

Officials say the restructuring should speed decision-making and better direct resources toward exploration and space technology.
