Bastl introduced the Kalimba, a thumb-piano-style instrument powered mainly by a synth engine.

It combines physical modeling and FM synthesis with touch-sensitive triggers, built-in effects, a looper, and programmable touch points.

An accelerometer adds motion-based timbral control, letting players shape sound with movement.

The first production run is being funded through Kickstarter, highlighting Bastl’s hybrid approach to instrument design.
