BS-TBS also announces the end of BS 4K broadcasting, leaving commercial key stations with zero 4K broadcasts

BS-TBS said it will not renew the satellite broadcast certification for BS-TBS 4K, and the channel will end after January 2027.

Other private BS 4K channels have already announced shutdown plans, so key commercial network 4K broadcasting is expected to disappear.

The move reflects weak adoption and poor profitability, pushing Japan's high-definition strategy from broadcast toward streaming.
