Defense spin-off eyes nuclear energy sector domination with novel reactor design

UK startup Nuclear Turbines has emerged from stealth with a reactor concept inspired by gas-turbine technology.

Its design heats compressed air directly and uses high-efficiency turbines instead of conventional steam systems.

The company backed this launch with a funding round of nearly $20 million and says the approach could cut costs and complexity.

If successful, the architecture could make nuclear power more commercially viable and boost the UK’s position in the global market.
