Samsung Says Its Galaxy Watch Can Predict Fainting With 'High Accuracy'

Samsung says a Galaxy Watch 6 study can predict vasovagal fainting up to five minutes ahead using PPG and heart-rate variability data analyzed by AI.

In tests with 132 patients, the model reached 84.6% accuracy and 90% sensitivity, according to research published in the European Heart Journal.

The study was done with Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital, but Samsung has not said when—or if—the feature will reach users.

If validated and approved, the feature could give people advance warning to avoid falls and injuries and broaden wearable health monitoring.
