Miyamoto says he was surprised Mario Galaxy Movie reviews were even harsher than the first

Shigeru Miyamoto said he expected The Super Mario Galaxy Movie to get a warmer reception than the first Mario film, but was surprised by even harsher Western criticism.

The film remains sharply divided between critics and audiences, with Rotten Tomatoes showing a much lower critics’ score than audience score.

Despite the split response, the movie is still performing strongly at the box office ahead of its Japan release.
