Google, Cloudflare and Cisco Lose DNS Blocking Appeal in France Pirate-Site Case

A French court dismissed five appeals and ordered DNS blocking against Cloudflare, Google and Cisco in late March 2026.

The court applied Article L.333-10 to allow rights holders to request blocking of sites with serious repeated infringements.

Judges ruled DNS resolvers can technically block pirate sites and rejected the companies' neutrality arguments.

The court said blocking need not be perfect and that preventing a portion of visitors is sufficient.
