Samsung Messages Is Being Retired. Here's How to Move Everything Before July

Samsung will retire its Messages app in July 2026 and steer Galaxy users to Google Messages.

Users are advised to install Google Messages, set it as the default SMS app, and transfer their chat history before the cutoff.

After the shutdown, Samsung Messages will only support emergency messaging, and users who wait may lose access to older conversations.

Older Tizen-based Galaxy Watches will not keep full message history, while Google Messages remains the supported texting app across Samsung and most Android devices.
