Google's New Gemini Robotics 2 Platform Allows for 'Intelligent Whole-Body Control'

Google DeepMind unveiled Gemini Robotics 2, a multimodal AI platform for controlling humanoid and other robots with vision, language, and action.

The demo showed robots doing more complex physical tasks, including cleaning trash, inserting tape into a boombox, screwing in a lightbulb, and tying a garbage bag.

DeepMind says the system includes guardrails and a new safety benchmark, ASIMOV-Agentic, to test risky behaviors and reliability.

The company stressed that the robots were trained with teleoperation, videos, and simulations, and are still far from general-purpose real-world deployment.
