Gemini for Google Home introduces camera-based automation, detecting mail deliveries and vehicle arrivals

Google has added a Gemini for Google Home feature that can trigger automations from camera-detected scenes.

Users can set routines like turning on lights, adjusting blinds, or changing the thermostat when a camera sees something specific.

The feature works with Nest cameras and some third-party cameras with Gemini built in, but only in the U.S. Public Preview for English users.

It requires Google Home Premium Advanced and AI descriptions, and Google says it is not meant for urgent security alerts.
