Amazon, Meta join fight to end Google Pay, PhonePe dominance in India

Amazon, Meta, and other payment firms plan to meet India’s NPCI to argue for limits on dominant UPI apps.

They say PhonePe and Google Pay’s huge market share and access to data and onboarding tools make it hard for smaller rivals to compete.

The lobbying push could influence competition rules in India’s fast-growing instant payments system.

Any policy shift would affect how newer players scale and how users access UPI payments.
