From Drones To Nuclear Reactors To Robots: An Engineer’s Journey

In a TEDx MIT interview, Andrew Reiter described a career spanning defense tech, decarbonization, and humanoid robotics.

He said Shield AI’s autonomous drones were built to lower soldier risk by scouting buildings and hostile areas before people go in.

Reiter later worked briefly at a reactor software company and then moved into humanoid robotics, noting the overlap between drones and robots in autonomy and sensing.

He argued that smaller, smarter, expendable platforms have military value and said nuclear reactors should not be used on drones or aircraft.
