Bad news for your wallet: Qualcomm's chip prices are going up, and your next phone will cost more

Qualcomm has told partners it will raise chipset prices by a double-digit percentage starting September 1, 2026.

The increase reflects higher manufacturing costs and is expected to spread across the Android ecosystem because Snapdragon chips are widely used.

Phones from Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Honor, Motorola, and other brands could become more expensive.

Since chipsets are a major cost component, the move may make new Android phones less affordable in late 2026 and 2027.
