MIT Laser Breakthrough Lets Scientists Watch Drugs Enter the Brain in Real Time

MIT researchers found that high-power laser light can self-organize into a stable pencil-like beam inside a multimode fiber.

Using the beam, they imaged the human blood-brain barrier about 25 times faster than a standard method while keeping image quality high.

The technique also let them watch drug uptake in cells in real time.

The advance could help researchers better study brain-targeted drug delivery and diseases such as Alzheimer’s and ALS.
