Here Comes Ojai, Waymo’s New Chinese-Made Robotaxi

Waymo will begin public rides in its new Ojai robotaxi in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Phoenix over the next few weeks.

Ojai is a purpose-built autonomous vehicle made by Zeekr in China, then fitted in Arizona with Waymo’s U.S.-built self-driving hardware and software.

Waymo says the new design should improve comfort, accessibility, maintenance, and charging speed.

The vehicle is meant to help Waymo scale faster across more U.S. cities and future international markets.
