The White House Is Still Desperately Trying to Slash NASA’s Budget

The White House OMB proposed a 2027 budget that would cut NASA funding by 23% versus the enacted 2026 budget.

The proposal would cut NASA’s science directorate by about 47% and seek cancellations of roughly 40 missions.

The plan would reduce operations funding for the International Space Station and repurpose the $2.6 billion Lunar Gateway budget for a lunar base.

Artemis programs would remain fully funded while SLS and Orion were criticized as costly and delayed.
