RFK Jr. plans to curb antidepressants, which he falsely compares to heroin

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said the federal government will launch new efforts to limit antidepressant prescribing.

At a MAHA Institute event, he and other speakers repeated unproven claims that SSRIs are overused, dangerous, hard to stop, and linked to violence.

Mental health experts say those claims are unsupported and warn against comparing antidepressant withdrawal to heroin addiction.

The move could influence federal mental health policy while amplifying misinformation about widely used antidepressants.
