Volla Phone runs Linux in a rugged shell and proves replaceable batteries are still doable

Volla launched the Plinius and Plinius Plus, rugged mid-range phones with IP68 protection and a user-replaceable 5,300 mAh battery.

Both models can run Volla OS or Ubuntu Touch, offering Linux-based, Google-free smartphone software.

The standard Plinius is available now, while the Plinius Plus adds more RAM, storage, and modular accessory support.

The Plus model is scheduled to ship in June 2026, underscoring continued demand for privacy-focused phones with swappable batteries.
